BIO Lisa J. Slayman, ASID, IIDA
Award-winning designer Lisa J. Slayman is the principal of Slayman Design Associates, Inc. (SDA), a Newport Beach, California-based design firm specializing in high-end residential, hospitality, and country club interiors. For more than 20 years she has honed her skills in all phases of commercial and residential interior design, from space planning and knowledge of building codes to selection of fabrics, materials, and furnishings; design of custom furnishings and fabrics; and interior detailing.
Committed to the use of top-quality materials, attention to detail, and personalized service, Slayman works within the parameters of each project to produce superior results consistently, focusing on clear communication and in-depth understanding to ensure that interiors reflect the individual character, lifestyle, and needs of her clients.
Slayman won the Laguna Beach Architectural Guild Interior Design Award for her work on the La Jolla, California, residence of Audrey and Ted (Dr. Seuss) Geisel, which exemplified the sense of whimsy in the author’s work through the use of over-sized custom furniture, custom animal prints, and an impressive 8-foot Cat in the Hat etched glass front door to welcome guests. In addition to a number of upscale residences in Southern California, Aspen, Colorado, and Sun Valley Idaho, the designer’s other projects have included Phoenix, Arizona’s Glendale Sports Arena; Playa Blanca Resort in Rosarito, Baja California, Mexico; San Diego, California’s New Palace Hotel; country clubs in Murietta, Laguna Niguel, Glendora, and Santa Ana, California; and a number of model homes.
When she’s not at the office, Slayman is an avid equestrian jumper and golfer.
